Matthew is an experienced business, commercial and disputes lawyer in Melbourne, with almost 10 years’ experience assisting, advising and representing clients at all stages of their commercial ventures, including in disputes and Court proceedings. He has brought and defended claims for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence and professional negligence. Matthew is a trusted adviser, an advocate with an eye for detail, and a practitioner who thinks outside the box.

Jason practises in Wills & Estates and Property Law.
He is a senior lawyer with over 7 years’ experience advising on Wills, Estates and Property law matters and appearing in most courts and tribunals in Victoria. He is an experienced negotiator who provides clear advice and works exceptionally hard to get results.
He was admitted to legal practice in 2014, having completed his Bachelor of Laws with second class honors from Deakin University in 2013. Before joining the team at Elvin Lawyers, Jason was an in-house Counsel lawyer for State Trustees for 3 years, gaining extensive experience in estate planning, testator family maintenance claims (claims against the estate) and Court litigation.
Before State Trustees, Jason worked as a lawyer in a busy firm gaining knowledge in various areas of law including family, property, contract, commercial and civil law. Such experience continues to be invaluable to Jason when determining how best to assist his clients.
In his spare time, Jason is determined to pull a perfect espresso shot and is a passionate supporter of Fiorentina in Serie A football (soccer).
Jackie brings a diverse range of skills and knowledge to her family law practice. Her goal is to provide clear and comprehensive advice to clients while helping them navigate the emotionally challenging family law process.
Prior to joining the Family Law team at Elvin Lawyers, Jackie practiced in general commercial law, wills & estates, and conveyancing.
Jackie has a unique background, having practised law in her regional hometown of Warrnambool as well as assisting partners at a top tier law firm in Canada. Her family law practice is based on a combination of these experiences – the compassionate, approachable nature of a country town lawyer with the top tier mindset of working efficiently towards a practical and cost-effective outcome.
She graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Law/Criminology and also holds a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. She is currently enrolled in a Masters of Applied Law (Family Law).
Merida manages the daily operations of Elvin Lawyers and works closely with Principal Matthew Elvin to design and implement strategies for business development, client experience, and risk management.
Merida is passionate about building strong and trusting relationships with clients and colleagues, with an emphasis on clear communication and compassion for everyone who walks through our doors.
She is an experienced manager with a diverse professional background, having previously held project management roles in the arts sector and hospitality prior to joining Elvin Lawyers in 2017.
Merida moved to Melbourne in 2009 after completing her undergraduate degree in International and Intercultural Studies at Pitzer College in Claremont, California. In 2017 she completed a Master of Commerce (Human Resource Management) from Swinburne University of Technology in Hawthorn.
Merida’s interest and passion for community and social consciousness make her excellent support for our clients’ needs. In her free time, Merida remains active in Melbourne’s art and music sectors and volunteers with community mutual aid groups.
